Fairview School Board Briefs For January 23, 2006

BOARD BRIEFS

 

The Fairview Board of School Directors held its regular public meeting on

January 23, 2006, and took action on the following matters:

 

·        Accepted the minutes of the public board meeting of December 19, 2005

 

·        Approved the budgetary transfers as contained in the board packet

 

·        Bills payable and payroll through January 20, 2006, were approved

 

·        Approved the Treasurer’s Report for December, 2005

 

·         Accepted retirement letters from Greg Baran, Eileen Phelps, Susan Michael, and Janet Lunik

 

·         Approved the Standards and Codes Resolution as contained in the packet

 

·         Approved the  Act 77 Memorandum of Agreement with Johnson Controls

 

·        Approved the 2006/2007 school calendar

 

·        Approved the Applied Algebra II course

 

·        The following policies were presented for the first reading and are posted in all buildings:  Policy 116 – Tutorial Instruction, Policy 105.2 – Exemption from Instruction, Policy 118 – Independent Study, Policy 117 – Home Bound Instruction, and Administrative Procedure AP 137.1 – In-home Instruction

 

·        Approved to amend the 2005-06 budget to show acceptance of the 2005-06 Dual Enrollment Grant from PDE in the amount of $21,221 to be used to offset the cost of RCI courses taken by Fairview resident students, and the grant expenditures as requested, to reimburse families for a portion of tuition(s)

 

·        Approved the Middle School Principal’s Secretary job description

 

·        Approved the facility use requests for the FHS cheerleaders to hold a cheerleading competition on March 3 and 4, 2006, with rental fees waived but to pay custodial and security fees, and for the Motorcycle Safety Program to continue to use the high school classroom and parking lot at a fee of $50 per class

 

·        Approved the spring schedule for 2006 for the Fairview Parks & Recreation Authority

 

·        Approved the disclaimer that is to be attached to the Fairview Facility Use Proposal as contained in the packet

 

·        Policy 707 pertaining to facilities usage has been revised and was presented for first reading and will be posted in all buildings.
