BOARD BRIEFS
The Fairview Board of School Directors held its regular public meeting on
April 25, 2005, and took action on the following matters:
Accepted the minutes of the March 14, 2005, public board meeting
Approved the budgetary transfers, bills payable and payroll through 4/22/05
Approved the treasurer's report for March, 2005
Read correspondence from grade 1 teacher, Terri Costello
Approved the 2005/2006 Tentative Budget in the amount of $17,822,972. This is available for public viewing at the district's Central Administration Building.
Approved field trips for the 7 th graders to go to Falling Water and the Pittsburgh Science Center and the 8 th graders to go to Toronto to the Princess of Wales Theater as part of the Adopt-an-Artist program and at no cost to the district
The board tabled the approval of the K-12 language arts textbooks
Authorized the administration to solicit bids for computer equipment and the related technology lease
Approved the adoption of the 2006 Harcourt math textbooks for special education students grades K-4 and to replace consumable texts in grades 1 and 2 at no additional cost to the district
Approved the affiliation agreement between the Fairview School District and Clarion University of PA for the district to accept student teachers for the 05/06 school year
Presented for first reading: Policy 122 – Extracurricular Activities and Policy 123 – Interscholastic Activities. These will be posted in all buildings for staff input.
Approved facility use requests for Keith Nies to conduct a boys basketball camp at FHS and an elementary basketball clinic at FES; for Chad Mummert and Laurie Hitt to use the FHS cafeteria and auditorium on May 18 to hold a music banquet; for Fairview Post 742 Jr. American Legion Baseball to use the high school baseball field for daily practice; for the Girls' Softball Association of Fairview to use the high school softball fields evenings after 6 p.m. and Saturdays if available for practice and the FES or FMS gyms in April and May for practice; and for Lisa George to conduct computer training for Erie Hotline volunteers in the FHS computer lab on May 1, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.; all of the above with rental and custodial fees waived.
Approved the purchase and installation of three color surveillance cameras for the high school from Securus (a division of Mobilcom) at a cost of $3,654 to be paid from the Capital Projects Fund
Approved the annual agreement for the Athletic Trainer for the 05/06 fiscal year
Appointed the firm of Felix & Gloekler, P.C. as the local auditors for the board for the fiscal years 2004/2005, 2005/2006, and 2006/2007 at an annual rate of $13,300
Approved the Fairview Parks & Recreation Authority Summer Schedule for 2005
Approved the personnel matters listed in the Board Attachment Book at the Central Administration Building. The list of commendables as well as the board remarks and president's remarks are also in the Attachment Book available for public viewing.

UPCOMING MEETINGS:
Monday, May 9, 2005, 6:30 p.m., Committee of the Whole followed by small committee meetings at Fairview Elementary School (the Middle School will be hosting an art show that evening hence, the change in location)
Wednesday, May 25, 2005, 7:30 p.m. there will be the regular monthly public board meeting at FMS.
