Fairview School Board Briefs For November 20, 2006

BOARD BRIEFS

 

The Fairview Board of School Directors held a special public board meeting on November 20, 2006, and took action on the following matters:

 

Accepted the minutes of the board meeting held on October 23, 2006.

Approved the Treasurer’s Report for October, 2006, as well as the Capital Reserve Report, the Cafeteria Report, District Retirement Benefit Account, and the high school and middle school activity accounts.

Approved bills payable through November 17, 2006.

Acknowledged a first reading of the following policies which are on display in all school buildings:

#100 – Strategic Plan

#103 – Nondiscrimination in School and Classroom Practices

#113 – Special Education

#115 – Vocational Technical Education

#122 – Extra-Curricular Activities

#123 – Interscholastic Athletics

#146 – Student Services

#200 – Enrollment in District

#204 – Attendance

#236 – Student Assistance Program

#209 – Health Examinations/Screenings

#210 – Use of Medications

#216 – Student Records

#218 – Student Discipline

#226 – Searches

#233 – Suspension and Expulsion

#234 – Pregnant/Married Students

#235 – Student Rights and Responsibilities

Approved the Erie County Lien Free Tax Sale (7,000 Series).

Approved the Audit Report for 2005/06.

Approved the State Audit Report for the years 2002/03 and 2003/04 and certified that the Board has studied the report and approved the action plans.

Approved Facility Use Requests as follows:

a. Fairview Athletic Boosters – Tiger Tip-Off Tournament – December 1-2, 2006 – FHS gymnasium, cafeteria, and locker rooms. All costs will be split between Fairview Parks and Recreation and the school district. If an additional custodian is used, that cost will also be split.

b. Fairview Cheerleaders – Cheerleading Competition - The Fairview High School cheerleaders will hold a cheerleading competition on January 19-20, 2007. They will pay for custodial and security fees as well as an ambulance and crew. Set up will take place around or following the basketball game. Approval is contingent upon receipt of insurance certificates from all participating school districts.

c. Environmental Coordination Services & Recycling, Inc. – Electronic Waste Collection – July 28, 2007. The request is for the Fairview High School North Parking Lot; however, the company will use any school parking lot as determined by the school district. An insurance certificate will be provided to the district.

Approved the purchase of a Bobcat 84" Angle Broom attachment for the Bobcat 773 at the state contract price of $3,687 from Bobcat of Erie.

Approved the list of personnel matters as well as the substitute lists.

Approved the 2006/07 PSBA recommended administrative salary ranges.

Approved the student Adjudication.
