Curriculum

The curriculum adheres to standards set forth by Pennsylvania’s State Board of Education and by the national initiative, “No Child Left Behind Act” established by President Bush.  You can find more information about Pennsylvania’s educational standards from their website:   Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE)

Opportunities are provided to nurture creative talents of all kinds.  The importance of sound mental health and physical well being recognized as our school-wide theme of “Be respectful, be responsible, be a good friend” is incorporated into daily lessons.

The Kindergarten year focuses on social/emotional adjustment, work habits, and responsibilities, as well as developmentally appropriate academic concepts that are continued in the upper levels of the program.

The curriculum for Grades 1 through 4 includes the following:

Communications (Reading, English, Spelling, Writing, Listening, and Speaking), Handwriting, Math, Social Studies, Science, Health, Art, Music, Physical Education, Library, and Computer Education.

All students are heterogeneously grouped and regrouped instructionally for Communications and Math.  This allows for maximum use of staff in providing educational opportunities for all children.  Math and Communications groups are based upon data driven decisions.
