Larry D. Kessler, superintendent of the Fairview School District is a 33 year veteran of public education. He received his bachelors of Science Degree from Edinboro University in Comprehensive Social Studies; He has a degree in Elementary Education and a Masters of Education Degree from Edinboro University as well. He completed his Certificates of Advanced Graduate Studies in Elementary and Secondary Administration and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Curriculum Development from Edinboro University. In 1998, he completed his Letter of Eligibility at Westminster College.
Mr. Kessler was a classroom teacher for the Fairview School District for eighteen years. During that time he taught American and World History, Government and Economics, Current Events Classes and Advanced Placement World History. He coached the Fairview Tiger Track team for some time. He initiated the Speech and Debate program, and Academic Decathlon program. He coached many state and national qualifiers in these activities.
Mr. Kessler has also served the Fairview School District as Director of Enrichment Education and Fairview High School Principal. For a time he served neighboring General McLane School District as Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Becoming the superintendent of the Fairview School District in January 2002 was a great opportunity for him to continue to serve the District of his home and career.
Mr. Kessler is married to June, a pre-school teacher and has three children: Amy an elementary teacher, Elizabeth, a program Director of the Girl Scouts, and Mark, an Outdoor Recreation Major. They reside in the Fairview Community.
