Expectations:
We expect members of this program to act in a mature, responsible, and respectful manner with highest amount of sportsmanship as the guiding principle. We expect this behavior not only to or around the coaches, but also to and around any other swimmer, parent, building staff member, swimming official, visiting opponent, and any other person with whom a member of this program may come into contact during the season. Foul language is NOT acceptable.
Be the best you can be. Expect to succeed.
Be on time. We will not tolerate wasted time.Practices will follow the time schedule as distributed and posted by the coaches. If you are late, expect to loose points.
Be prepared. It is your responsibility to have the proper equipment you need for each practice session including: goggles, caps, water bottles, suit, towel, etc.
Be honest with the coaches. Do not feel shocked or violated if we follow-up on absences from practice.
Be drug/alcohol free.
Be safe. Safety first– always. Do not do anything that is counterproductive to the team goals, yourself, your body, or to others.

Rules:
Pool office: Do not enter the pool office without permission (this includes phone usage). Too many important documents have been ruined because of wet swimmers dripping on them. If you need to use the phone, please dry off first.
Locker Rooms: You are to use the locker room designated for your gender. If you are caught in the opposite gender’s locker room, your name will be submitted to the principal’s office. Consider this your only warning.
Team Problems: Do not attempt to solve “team” related problems on your own. If a problem is developing (friendship, relays, lane assignments, etc.) please see a coach for input.
Lettering: Varsity letters and senior athlete MVP will be awarded based on the point system.
Weather: Unless the school cancels after-school activities or school, you will have practice.
Lane lines: Everyone will be assigned to a day to help put in and take out the lane lines unless someone volunteers on a daily basis to earn extra lettering points.
Swim meets: We expect you to arrive prepared and ready to swim at the appointed time for the meet. This is very important because meet line-ups are dependent upon attendance. Pre-meet team meetings will be held sharply at the appointed time. If you are going to be late for a meet, please let one of the coaches know by 3rd period. No exceptions. The coaches reserve the right to “bench” a member of this team for lateness. The bus will not wait for late team members.
Food: We will not stop after meets for food. No glass containers are permitted in any pool area. Food must be eaten in the school cafeteria.
School Sponsored Activities (drama, student council, speech and debate, etc.): School sponsored activities are permitted, but we expect swimming to be your primary activity. In order to receive 1 lettering point for the day, you need to have your advisor/coach give Mr. Jensen a note specifying the time of your activity and the reason for your absence. CAMP FITCH is NOT allowed for swimmers.
Skiing: Skiing with the school ski club is permitted. Skiing on your own time or with the school group will be highly discouraged prior to invitational, district, and state competitions.
Excuses/Absences/Missing Practice: You will be allowed for 2 misses that will count as full practice points towards lettering. Use them wisely. We will need a written note prior to the start of the practice that you wish to use the miss. If your lettering point total falls into the negative range for a particular week, then a meeting with the coaches will take place. If a pattern develops where your lettering points fall below 50% for a particular week, a meeting will also take place with the coaches.
School day illness: If you attend school, practice attendance is expected. You must personally see Mr. Jensen if your illness may prevent you from practicing.
Hazing: We have a no tolerance policy toward hazing of any kind. The school district hazing policy will be followed.
The coaches may add any other rule at any time that they see fit.
**Remember swimming is a school function.
We will enforce all school rules.**
