PATS Minutes- November 2013

PATS Minutes

Fairview High School

November 6, 2013

The meeting was called to order at 9:07 a.m.

Attendance:  Sue McCloy, Sheila Kocan, Brenda Widger, Jane Levin, Colleen Grimm, Jeanine Timon, Laura Vanekenvort, Chris Nerthling, Loretta Nelson VanHonk, and Ellen Eastwood.

Secretary’s Report:

  • Minutes from previous meeting were approved

  • No new correspondence at this time

Treasurer’s Report:

  • Treasurer’s report was presented and approved on motion.  Current Balance $15,792.92 (we are still awaiting an invoice to cover the costs of the Yankee Candle Fundraiser)

Committee Reports:

  • Membership – a few memberships still coming in.  Members will be placed on the Sign-up Genius request list so that all members are notified of PATS needs.

  • Vending – Deb Hauk recently emptied machines, money is yet to be counted and deposited

  • Yankee Candle Sale – Sales to date are at $7,136.62, down from last year’s mark.  One NSF check needs to be handled and there is one other outstanding order that needs to be completed.  Colleen Grimm reported the opportunity to continue the existing merchandise sale directly through the Yankee Candle website, with PATS earning 40% of all online sales.  Orders will be paid by the customers directly to Yankee Candle and shipments will go directly to the customers so there is no involvement necessary by the PATS team.  It was agreed that we would offer this opportunity in order to bring in additional funds.  Yankee has also forwarded information about their spring brochure sale, but PATS has decided not to participate in the spring.

  • Prom-to-Dawn – The Fairview Foundation has agreed to accept donations for this event.  Colleen Grimm needs to stop by their office to sign the required paperwork to put everything into motion.  Letters will be going out requesting donations and Heather (Mr. Park’s secretary) will be asked to get information to all of the teachers as well, as many of them have expressed an interest in helping out this year.  Sign-up Genius will be used as we draw closer to the event for additional donations and volunteers.

Old Business:

  • Career Day – PATS has agreed to provide refreshments for this event on March 31, but will not be responsible for finding speakers.  If the Guidance Department has specific speakers that they are having a difficult time to secure, we will try to make some recommendations, but it was agreed that PATS main role should be focused on hospitality for this event.

New Business:

  • Faculty/Staff Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, January 15th and donations/volunteer help will be requested via Sign-up Genius.

  • Important Dates:  Senior Breakfast (May 21); Senior Finals (May 29 & 30); Underclassmen Finals (June 4 & 5); Graduation June 5

Next Meeting:  Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. (no meeting in December)

Meeting was adjourned at 9:40 a.m.
