Fairview High School

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. 

 

Attendance:  Deb Hauk, Chris Nerthling, Denise Borowski, Laura Symes, Jacqui Fonticella, Deb Foyle Melissa McWilliams and Dee Gaton

 

Principal's Report: 

 

*PSSA testing is going well.  FHS is required to jump 10% in math by the state.  The review sessions for math review for certain 11th grade students were deemed beneficial.

*Mr. Park and Mr. Lewis are doing personal evaluations on all teachers.  New teachers are evaluated four times per year. Veteran teachers are evaluated twice per year.

* Scheduling is going well.  They are ready to move on to talking with students individually to finalize schedules.

* Mr. Park is going to look into Key Club and projects.  A parent concern was raised about not enough activity.  Mr. Park's response to this concern is attached.

 

Secretary’s Report: 

 

*The minutes of the March 28 meeting were approved by motion.

 

Treasurer’s Report: 

 

*There was an opening balance of $11,032.39.  Total receipts were $326.00 and total disbursements were $300.00, leaving a closing balance of $11,058.39.

*The treasurer’s report was approved by motion.

 

Committee Reports: 

 

*Secretaries Luncheon-The luncheon is today.  Thank you to Laura Petrella for handling this event.

*Prom to Dawn-Board approved use of all facilities. Final decision about where Prom will be held will be next Friday.

*Senior Breakfast-The Breakfast  is on Wednesday, May 23.  Volunteers have signed up for all food and other items. Volunteers to help set up and serve are still needed.  It is especially beneficial for parents of underclassmen to volunteer.  You get to see what scholarships and awards are available.

 

 

Old Business:

 

*Fundraising-Susan has contacted All-American Flag Company produced the flags that were sold at Fairview about ten years ago.  Also, selling candles is still an option.

*Senior Scholarships-Bag will be set out on May 1 for entries.

 

 

 

New Business:

.

*Officers for 2012-2013 will be elected at the next meeting

* Principal Appreciation - Chris Nerthling will take care of purchasing gift cards for Mr. Park and Mr. Lewis to show our appreciation for all that they do for our students and the school.

 

The next PATS meeting will be on Wednesday, May 30, at 9:00 a.m.

Mr. Park's Response to concern raised regarding the Fairview HS Community Service Club:

 

Could you please inform the PATs of this response re the Fairview HS Community Service Club. It would appear that they group has indeed fulfilled its responsibilities and continues to make a positive difference in the world. Sometimes there are individual students who are less active either because of other commitments or lack of interest.

Habitat for Humanity is every other year. We did it last year and it will be next year due to the 16 year old requirement.
