Fairview High School

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

  The meeting was called to order at 9:08 a.m.

  Attendance:  Jacqui Fonticella, Susan McGrain, Dee Gaton, Laura Symes and Mr. Park.

  Principal’s Report: 

  *Tiger Pride Day for the eighth grade was successful, and the new publication, “Why Come to Fairview” received compliments.

*Mr. Park asked for ideas on how we can get students to stay at Fairview.

*Principal’s report for November will be coming out this week.

*Calendar comes out monthly.  Let Mr. Park know if anything is missing.

*Ninth graders visited the tech school today.

*Information on the senior project can be found in the student handbook.

*Check with the guidance office for opt-out information.

*On January 18, during 3rd period, every junior will take the 4Sight test, which is a predictor of PSSA performance.  With students who score a proficient, nothing further will be done.  Students who do not score proficient will be required to take a four week “math boot camp” class during tutorial.

*PSSA scores will now go on student transcripts.

*Students who applied, but were not accepted, to the National Honor Society should contact Mrs. Karpinski if they want to know the reason for their non-admittance.

  Secretary’s Report: 

  *Minutes approved by motion.

  Treasurer’s Report:

  *There was no treasurer’s report.

  Committee Reports:

  *Prom 2 Dawn-Laura Symes reported that the contracts are in and the reservation made at Family First for June 2.

*The prom will be at the Ambassador again this year.

  New Business:

  *Suggestion made that a scholarship be made in Anne Moore’s name. 

*$25.00 donations to the Fairview Foundation will be made in memory of two recently deceased parents of students. 

*After information was presented about a Schwan’s Truckload fundraiser, we decided to explore other options.

  The next PATS meeting will be on Wednesday, December 14 at 9 a.m.
