The meeting was called to order at 9:08 a.m.

 

Attendance:  Jacqui Fonticella, Susan McGrain, Chris Nerthling, Denise Borowski, Dee Gaton, Kathy Zurawski-King, Kim Gibson, Mr. Park and Mrs. Crawford

 

Guidance Report: 

 

*Counselors are meeting with each senior for twenty minutes to create plan with them.

* Mrs. Crawford will be going on maternity leave in mid-October.  Matthew Puschar is an intern who will be taking her place until her return.

*Guidance is helping seniors with the college application and teacher recommendation process.

 

Principal’s Report: 

 

*Kathryn Susko is working on website during 2nd period. 

*Mr. Park discussed changes in the website and what needs to be done to get information on smart phones.

*Mr. Park talked about the mass texting test that was sent out to students and asked for suggestions as to what information should be texted to them.

*Suggestion was made to also send mass texts to parents when necessary.

*We were encouraged to attend the Fit 4 Fairview event.

*Substance abuse was discussed along with school policies and consequences regarding students who are caught with alcohol/drugs on or off school property.

*Discussed homecoming court and how students are nominated.

*Open House night was successful.

 

Secretary’s Report: 

 

*The minutes of the May 30 meeting were approved by motion.

*Thank you note was received from Mrs. Daley and Mrs. Wagner for the art panels.

*Thank you notes were received from Harrison Grimm and Jeremy Brinling for the PATS scholarships.

*Received note of thanks from Megan Silvis for the $500.00 Prom to Dawn scholarship.

*Received thank you notes from Mr. Lewis and Mrs. Hitt.

 

Treasurer’s Report: 

 

*Opening balance was $5,716.50.  There were receipts of $2,128.00 and disbursements of $402.12, leaving a closing balance of $7,442.38.

*The treasurer’s report was approved by motion.

 

Committee Reports:

 

*Teacher Appreciation-Denise Robinson gave chocolate to the teachers.

*Back to school mailing-Susan McGrain reported that with several parent and student volunteers, it was completed in just a little over an hour.

*Membership-$1800.00 has been collected thus far.

*Yankee Candle-$500.00 in orders as of last Friday.

Old Business:

 

*We talked about selling Tiger flags again for a possible fundraiser, and would need someone to volunteer to be in charge.

*Thanks to all who helped serve lunch on Mentor Day and to those who brought cookies to Open House.  Both events were successful.

*Photo Day-Thanks to Kathy King for helping.

 

New Business:

 

*Laura Petrella is looking for someone to co-chair the January teacher luncheon with her.

*Prom to Dawn-It was suggested that even though we will have committees, a chairperson is needed so we have someone for the committee chairs to go to for guidance.  We discussed new ideas for the upcoming Prom to Dawn, such as additional furniture, student videographer, etc.

 

The next PATS meeting will be on Wednesday, October 24 at 9 a.m.
