FMS Band
Primary Band Objectives
Play independently and in groups with an understanding of musical notation appropriate for student ability level; including melodic and rhythmic patterns and basic expression and tempo symbols.
Explore a variety of musical genres from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
Develop and exhibit proper rehearsing, performing, and listening skills.
Learn and display proper care and handling of instruments.
5th & 6th Grade Participation
Students rehearse once a week after school until 3:15 p.m. (Monday)
5th Grade students are also scheduled into a Small Group Instrumental Lesson which meets once a week during Tiger Time.
Band members perform at one public concert in the Spring during the school year.
School instruments are available for rental on a first-come first-served basis.

Band members are provided the opportunity to participate in performances both within and outside the school community.
FMS Concert Choir
Primary Chorus Objectives

Learn and display proper care and handling of the voice.
5th and 6th Grade Basic Chorus Participation
Chorus is presented as a part of the Music Curriculum in the 6-week Specials/Mini Rotation.
Students scheduled into Music during the first half of the School Year (1st semester) perform at a concert in January.
Students scheduled into Music during the second half of the School Year (2nd semester) perform at a concert in May.
FMS Concert Choir (Grades 6-8)
Students rehearse once a week after school until 3:15 p.m. (Wednesday)
Get to know kids from other grades
Learn songs from all styles of music
Perform at a variety of events both within and outside the school community, Otters and Seawolves Games, and one large concert in May
Open to ANY Student in grades Six (6) through Eight (8)!!
