The FES Library Media Center houses over 12,000 books for student enjoyment. Students are able to sign out books for a week and books can be renewed for an additional week if no other student has reserved the title. They are able to search for topics, titles, and authors through the use of our online library catalog called Destiny Discover. Students can log into their Google accounts to see what books they have checked out through this platform.

We have a big “Celebration Books” event on Parent Information Night in September. Volunteers have hundreds of titles out for parents to select to purchase for the library in honor of their child. On your child’s special day, the book will be delivered to their classroom and they will be the first person to enjoy the book and see the special plate commemorating their gift to the Fairview Elementary Media Center. The book is then returned to the media center after the child has finished reading it so it can then be shared with all the other students in the school. Celebration Books are great holiday, birthday (or half birthday), or other special-time gifts to your child and help promote one of the most important missions of our school...the enjoyment of reading!

FES Media Center has a great group of volunteers who do so much to promote a love of reading in our students. They keep our shelves well organized, plan and put up displays that tie into literature, plan author visits, and brainstorm other ways to enhance the student experience with books. They are an extraordinary group and we welcome any additional parents who have a little time to give each week.
