Mrs. Nies's and Mrs. McManus's first period seniors worked together to organize and prepare Christmas food baskets at the Fairview Township building on Thursday.
Sophomore ELA classes created their Lord of the Flies symbolism masks. Students were encouraged to think outside the box and create symbols for the novel through colors, nature, and even movie references. Students also wrote an accompanying essay to explain the symbolism on their masks and how each aspect connects to the novel.
This tree goes WAAAAYYYYYY back to when Carl Servey was the Chemistry teacher. It may even have been in the classroom when he taught HS in what is now FMS.
The ornaments may have been different over the years, but the sentiment is still the same.

On December 14, members of Fairview's Speech & Debate took FIRST PLACE at the 50th annual North Catholic Invitational. Two Tigers earned their third PHSSL bids, both in Student Congress, and therefore have already qualified for the state championships in Bloomsburg next March. What a great day for the team! Attorney Lightner, a prosecution attorney for Erie County and a former Fairview graduate, visited the Law class today to discuss the trial process and provide the students with real-life case examples.

The students in CP Physics class study work, energy and simple machines. Machines are devices that are used to make tasks easier by changing the magnitude or direction of applied force. Using pulleys the calculate the mechanical advantage of the three different class of simple machines.

Photo 1 had the honor of learning some techniques from Mike Conway Wednesday in preparation for our upcoming portrait project. Mike has spent the last year compiling portraits highlighting the diversity of Erie in his Faces of Erie project.

It’s always muy divertido to collaborate with the other Spanish Class. Today was a choose your own adventure for all Spanish classes in the department. JUGAR (play) in Señor’s room or BAILAR (dance) salsa y merengue in Profe’s.
Mrs. Shahzadi and Masa created a wonderful Eid display in the library. All are welcome to share their cultural and holiday traditions in the FHS library. Please feel free to stop by and take a look. We have our Christmas decorations up, and this Eid display is a beautiful addition to our holiday atmosphere. Again, if anyone would like to include another holiday display, please stop by the library and share your ideas.

Using micropipets, PCR, and gel electrophoresis equipment purchased with a Fairview School Foundation Mini-Grant, AP Biology students complete a crime lab. Elliot Yochim and Caden Surrett load samples into a MiniPCR. Norah Naber prepares her gel and Annika Biggs loads sample into the gel electrophoresis chamber. Masa Alkhudari and Julia Burford prepare the run their gels.
A group of students traveled to Erie Insurance for "Be an Actuary Day". Several Erie Insurance professionals spoke to them about careers in actuary science. They also worked on an insurance rates case study with students from other schools, before taking a tour of the Erie Insurance campus.
As a culmination to their Community Unit, the AP Language and Composition students provided insightful analysis in a graded discussion on the concept of the individual’s responsibility to the community. The students’ responses demonstrated strong critical thinking and awareness of societal issues.
Mrs. Nies's Law Course heard a presentation from Detective Pat Ginkel today. Detective Ginkel spoke about what his job entails and discussed local crime with the students. His presentation was very interesting!

Senior English students wrote poems to reflect on Fairview's 2024-2025 theme "Carry the Banner." Students were inspired by the poetry of Langston Hughes and chose to reflect on the theme using a historical, social, archetypal, or biographical perspective.
