Physical Science students with Mrs. Magraw determined the speed of light by heating marshmallows in a microwave. The distance between the hot spots is half the wavelength of the microwaves. With some calculation, the speed of light can be determined since all electromagnetic waves travel at the speed. After the an error analysis was complete, the students were rewarded by being allowed to make microwave s’mores. Yum!
