It was a great day at the Slippery Rock for the World Language Competition. Congrats to all who participated and especially our award winners! 3rd place Spanish (level 3) Corbyn Pontier. French level 1: 2nd place Masa Alkhudari; 3rd place Parker Harvey. French level 2: 1st place David Adiska; 3rd place Kate Granger.





Can you say "yo gané"? Señor Lowe's Spanish 1 class has been "muy ocupado" this week, learning about the articles and grammatical gender and number through La Lotería, a Bingo-style game popular throughout Mexico. They have also been practicing their pronunciation and fluency through the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish and the National Anthem of Argentina. There was also a surprise visit from Profe's Spanish 4 class, who came to demonstrate their self-written scenarios of a visit to the doctor. Remember, "si no sanas hoy, sanarás mañana!"




Ninth grade environmental science students did water quality testing on campus. They measured pH, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. They also sampled macroinvertebrates to see how organisms were affected by the water quality.




Chris Krahe, Senior Director at S&P Global Ratings, met with Intro to Business students to share his experience with the company. He also talked about what makes a successful pitch and examples of corporate quarterly reports.

Ms. Nelson’s American Studies 9 students spend time in the new FHS library! Mr. Barbour assisted students in utilizing online databases and print resources to research Gilded Age innovations that continue to impact today’s world.








Our AP Psychology students spent time creating brains from Play-Doh as they learned how each part of the brain stem and cortex affect behavior and mental processes. Everything psychological is also ultimately biological.





We are proud to announce that Fairview High School and Fairview Middle School have been recognized as Apple Distinguished Schools. This Is the third time being recognized for Fairview High School and the first time for Fairview Middle School.

Students in Mrs. Jones' CP Geometry class worked with her student teacher, Mr. Rotko, to explore the different types of lines- parallel, perpendicular, and skew - using spaghetti. They created their own representations of geometric figures using criteria given by Mr. Rotko.

The AP physics students analyze the free fall data in order to determine the acceleration of a falling mass inside the classroom.


Representatives from the IRS Pittsburgh office visited the FHS accounting class on Friday. They discussed different career opportunities the IRS offers and what kind of opportunities an accounting degree can provide. They also took time to discuss the VITA program which FHS has partnered with for the past 4 years to provide free tax prep services to our community.
