As an end-of-the-year project, our 3rd-grade ELA teachers and our librarian work with all of our 3rd-grade students to create a Wax Museum. Each student is responsible for researching someone of significance (past or present), completing a display board that tells about the lives of their person, and then memorizing any pertinent information about this person. On Wax Museum Day, family members come and the students stand as wax figurines until they are approached. They then come to life, reciting the life information they have memorized.
As you can see, we have a wide range of characters, from Wayne Gretzky to Michael Jackson and Andy Warhol.

Every year the 1st graders have a farm week. They get a chance to learn all about farm animals! They also get to participate in the Penn State Embryology program. They successfully hatched 4 baby Leghorn chicks. The students loved watching them hatch and grow! They also got to meet and pet Mrs. Farrar's baby goat, Lucy. The best part came on Friday when Dr. Horn brought in Cooper the mini horse for the kids to feed and pet! By far the best week ever in 1st grade!

What starts off as a very early day, turns into learning about how all that water is used to provide power to a number of states, lunch at the conference center, and then a very wet ride on the Maid of the Mist.
