
Mrs. Nies's Law Course heard a presentation from Detective Pat Ginkel today. Detective Ginkel spoke about what his job entails and discussed local crime with the students. His presentation was very interesting!

Senior English students wrote poems to reflect on Fairview's 2024-2025 theme "Carry the Banner." Students were inspired by the poetry of Langston Hughes and chose to reflect on the theme using a historical, social, archetypal, or biographical perspective.





What role should the United States play in world affairs? A spectacular debate took place as Ms. Nelson’s American Studies students faced each other across “no man’s land” while asserting unique points of view related to the US role in World War I. Engaging discourse, powerful rebuttals, and intriguing questions abounded as students expanded their critical thinking skills.






Students in Mrs. Hedstrom's ELA class just finished reading the short story "The Landlady" by Roald Dahl as part of their suspense unit. After reading and analyzing the text, students used their creativity (and characterization) to create a WANTED poster that best identifies the Landlady, the crimes she committed, and the reward for any information that could help lead to her capture.







Officer Ras presented to Mrs. Nies's Law Course this week. Officer Ras spoke about local crime, personal safety and situational awareness to match their unit on types of crimes.




Early Childhood Education students had a class debate on whether introducing a child into a relationship weakens or strengthens the relationship between the parents. Both sides had great points.



This weekend, 7th graders Lucia Moritz and Chloe Snyder represented FMS at the PMEA IU5 Jr. District Choir festival. The event was held at Northwestern High School and took place on Fri. 11/15 and Sat. 11/16. Lucia and Chloe joined approximately 140 other 7th, 8th and 9th grade choral students from the tri-county area in rehearsals followed by a public performance under the direction of Mr. Zachary Covington.




11th grade CP Chem students spent two days investigating various types of chemical reactions. We made some noise for our neighbors.




Fairview High School Freshman Mariya Hoja represented the state of Pennsylvania at the first annual National Civics Bee, held in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Mariya finished in the top ten of all students competing. Congratulations Mariya on this tremendous accomplishment!





Partners Club had a Friendsgiving Event on November 14th with fun games of Trivia and Charades to get us ready for Thanksgiving. Mrs. Yatsko was excited at the turnout---39 attendees.

In Mrs. Flaherty’s 8th grade science class, students just finished up several units on Biology, including cell structure and function, cellular reproduction, and genetics. Students created wet-mount slides to observe various types of cells using microscopes, made edible cell cakes, analyzed a case study regarding cellular respiration, and completed a simulation decoding strips of mRNA codons. Students worked really hard and showed great effort!





Fairview won Outstanding School (2nd place) at the Gannon University 72nd Annual Model United Nations Conference! Congratulations to the whole team!
