
Our last Chopped Chef's campions of this school year were Emma Gyllenberg, Will Harmston, Ethan Dongre and Cadence Gannoe with a Garlic Shrimp Creamed Corn. This was an original recipe created by students for their final project.

Fairview School Foundation's FHS May student of the month. These students were recognized for our fourth pillar of ROAR, which is Resilience.


Over the Memorial Day weekend, members of Fairview's Speech & Debate team were in Chicago for the NCFL Grand National Championships. They were among approximately 2000 students from across the US. Four Tigers managed the difficult task of breaking into Day 2 of the competition - the highest number to do so in at least 28 years! Theo advanced to the semi-final round of Student Congress; Anish and Lucky were octo-finalists in Declamation. Lucky then advanced to the quarter-final round before bowing out, placing 16th - 3 places higher than last year! In Extemp, Peter also made it to quarters and placed 22nd, outdoing his 26th place finish from last year! Congrats to these four as well as to Ulyana, Tanmay and Shaheer who also qualified for the tournament! It was an amazing season!

Pre-AP Biology students, Corbyn Pontier and Sarah Adams, successfully transform bacteria with pGLO.



Spanish Club and our Spanish classes wrapped up a great year with comida deliciosa. AP/Spanish 6 took a field trip to use their Spanish at Dina’s Dominican Kitchen and Spanish Club learned a variety of candy names as part of their candy salad final fiesta. ¡Que tengan un buen verano!





Another successful year for PJAS participants. (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science, affiliated with the Pennsylvania Academy of Science.)
Ten FHS students qualified for State PJAS in Jan. and presented at the State meet this past weekend. FHS achieved five 1st place awards and five 2nd place awards. Among those was Cate McGinty who was recognized with a Perfect Score and she received a plaque for Excellence in Biology.
Seniors, Jocelyn T, Amani T, and Aditya T, were recognized for 4-6 years of perseverance.

A special thank you to Mr. Anderson, Mr. Macrino, and their interns from the Hagen History Center for coming into the Erie Experience classes today and hosting a game on Erie baseball history and general Erie history. The game was educational and enjoyable! Then the Erie Experience classes enjoyed a field trip to the Erie Seawolves’ game courtesy of the Fairview Foundation.







Upon completing a mini lesson on beach glass in the area, the Erie Experience classes took a class trip down to Avonia Beach to try their skills at beach glass hunting.





The Algebra II students were recently graphing rational functions.






The Erie Experiences classes were treated to a day of education, entertainment and experience courtesy of Beaumont Industries located in Fairview, PA. The staff at Beaumont went above and beyond to make the students feel welcome; including touring the facility, sampling their products, and holding a luncheon with the some of the staff. Beaumont Industries is another example of what makes Erie a unique and interesting place to live!

Mrs. Fair's sophomore ELA classes created their Lord of the Flies symbolism masks this week. Students were encouraged to think outside the box and create symbols for the novel through colors, nature, and even movie references. This week, students will write the accompanying essay to explain the symbolism on their mask and how each aspect connects to the novel.






The Erie Experience classes had the complete "Erie Summer" experience today- beginning the day with a tour of Waldameer, followed by lunch at Sara's, and a visit to Beach 6. A special thank you to Fairview alum, Brian Gorman, for leading the Waldameer portion and allowing a special ride on the Ravine Flyer II for the class.





Erie County Technical School Student of the Month.



For the second round of our Survivor of the Mathematicians competition, students in Mrs. Jones' Honors Geometry classes created engaging presentations to explain their mathematicians' contributions to the mathematics field. Some of the groups created their own games based off of their mathematician, including a Hypatia themed Clue game to uncover how Hypatia died; a game of Float or Sink? based off of Archimedes buoyancy principal; and a game of 2 Truths and a Fib(onacci) to learn fun facts about Fibonacci.



Erie Experience classes were entertained by former FBI Detective Jerry Clark's presentation on the Pizza Bomber Case. Following the discussion, the classes toured Gannon's Forensic Lab as well.




Sports analytics is one of the fastest-growing job segments in Big Data, having grown by 27% over the last decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Mrs. Kloecker started a new course at FHS this year called Data Science with Sports.
Students began the class by completing a Coding Bootcamp to review important coding skills learned in previous computer science classes. Students have spent the past few weeks learning important skills in statistics, Python programming, coding with Pandas, and using programming to analyze large amounts of data. Most recently, students used their skills to analyze the player statistics of the 23-24 NCAAW Women's Basketball Champions, the South Carolina Gamecocks. We are excited to see our students learning real-world skills!






On April 26, Ms. Turner's students participated in City-Nature Challenge with Asbury Woods. Students helped to contribute to a successful challenge that saw over 3,500 observations from 141 observers in the Erie area.
