This week Mr. Kesler's 6th and 7th grade class worked hard as they completed a crossfit-style partner workout. The workout consisted of 5 different exercises and the two individuals were able to split up the reps and exercises however they decided to. Lots of friendly competition took place to see which group could finish the workout first!

The students in Mrs. Huggler's ELA class have been working on descriptive writing. They had fun tasting donuts and thinking about words to describe the smell, texture, and taste. The class then applied this to their writing activity and designed their own donut.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season from Fairview Middle School!

Congratulations to our 2022 holiday card contest winner, Paislee Leone. Paislee is in Kindergarten at FES. She is pictured here with her Art Teacher, Miss Lybrook and her parents, Vince and Allison. Paislee's card will be shared with all of our District employees and school friends. Great work, Paislee!

In Mrs. Tost’s 7th grade ELA class, students practiced their informative presentations by going from station to station in the Co-lab. They completed tongue twisters to practice enunciation, used the stage to practice body language, and worked on volume and eye contact to prepare for their speeches. The repeated practice and low pressure environment led to some awesome speeches about Jeeps, soccer cleats, TVs, fishing poles, and so many other interesting topics!

Just a reminder to join us on Sunday at noon.

Mrs. Gerber's 6th grade honors math classes spent the week learning about proportional relationships. They worked very hard interpreting word problems and determining how to correctly set-up proportions and solve for missing values. The students enjoyed practicing the skills with puzzles, pixel art activities, and an escape room.

Mrs. Carrara and Miss Stewart's ELA class participated in a book tasting to try out books for our book clubs! Students loved being able to "taste" the books and choose the book they would like to read!

During a field trip to the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, 5th and 6th grade students participated in a Hack-a-Thon and created unique devices.
One group created a device to help stop the spread of infectious diseases in schools that sprays a mist that kills viruses and bad bacteria. This device can be installed on the ceiling and is refillable.
Another Group created a bus safety system. It has 2 plastic screens on every seat that automatically rise to shield students from diseases. It also has a disinfectant that sprays down to clean the system at the end of each route.

Come out and see an amazing show this weekend.
