Summer Chill schedule at the high school

Mr. Stark recently visited the Management class at FHS to talk about decision-making and leadership in our district. He was able to interact with students and share some leadership advice.

The Business Management class visited our own CAB to get a tour and see how projects and people are managed in our district. Dr. Zona gave a tour, introduced students to some decision-makers, reviewed our organizational chart, and answered student questions.
Fairview School Foundation's FHS May students of the month. These students were recognized for the fourth pillar of ROAR, which is Resilience. Congratulations!

Students from the Drama Club had the opportunity to attend the Broadway by the Bay Luncheon and Q&A featuring Broadway stars Ivan Rutherford and Jackie Burns. Students enjoyed a formal lunch buffet while hearing performances from students of Corella Productions and listening to stories and experiences shared by Ivan Rutherford, a longtime Jean Valjean, and Jackie Burns, the longest-running Elphaba on Broadway.
The event also served as a fundraiser supporting the Erie City Mission. Students who attended were provided tickets to see the performers later that evening at the Warner Theater.

21 Students participated in the PJAS State Competition this weekend at Penn State Main in State College this weekend. 17 students scored first place awards in their units and of those 17 two scored perfect scores! Three students earned Perseverance awards for participating in states for at least four years and one student earned The Oerlein Award, a prestigious award presented to select individuals with an outstanding project. Congratulations to all participants!



What better way to wrap up the final days of the Erie Experience class than by treating yourself at a favorite summer spot, Creamland, and hunting for beach glass along Avonia Beach?





Erie Experience classes returned to Asbury Woods to hike and explore the local nature. The students saw the Grandfather Tree, salamanders, turtles and heard about the changing ecosystems in the area.





Freshmen in American Studies 9 explored the Cold War and read a short story to better understand life growing up communist. “Breaking Stalin’s Nose” revealed the life of young Sasha as he navigates Soviet life under Stalin. Students also engaged in an interactive online “NUKE IT” simulation that allowed them to witness the impact of atomic bombs.

Do you believe in Urban Legends? The Erie Experience classes visited local spots to explore Axe Murder Hollow, the Gudgeonville Bridge and other haunted spots in the area that have long held onto urban legends.





🧬 Crime Scene Investigators Brayden Wagner and Kai Cook put their forensic science skills to work using gel electrophoresis to investigate whether J.M. may have been wrongfully convicted. Special thanks to the Fairview School Foundation for providing the gel electrophoresis equipment and micropipettes that make these hands-on learning experiences possible!


Gannon University and the Hagen History Center welcomed the Erie Experience classes this week to tour the Strong Mansion. The students learned about how the home was a wedding gift from William L. Scott to his daughter, Anne, and how the home eventually was purchased by Bishop Gannon to begin Gannon University.





Erie Experience students visited the Erie Cemetery. They viewed the Scott Mausoleum, the "Vampire Crypt," the witches' circle and many other notable stops along the tour. Special thanks to Betsy MacKrell for serving as our tour guide.





Erie Experience classes visited the Fairview Cemetery and Alms House Cemetery this week. The students learned about the famous people buried in the Fairview Cemetery and learned about the sad, past history of "Paupers' Field."





A special thank you to Fairview alum, Brian Gorman, for hosting our Erie Experience classes this week. The class received a tour of the park as well as a ride on the Ravine Flyer II and a walk through Pirates' Cove. The day was capped off with a lunch at Sara's

Crochet, Fashion, and Design Clubs had an amazing hands-on visit from the owner of Hanks Yarn Supply Co.—right here in Erie!
Students explored where yarn comes from, how it’s dyed, and discovered why it’s so much more than just string. They even went home with fun goody bags (featuring red yarn, of course and other surprises!
