Biography
Dr. Nies began his teaching career at Fairview Middle School in April of 2001 as a Middle School Learning Support Teacher. He spent the next 15 years as the 3rd and 4th grade learning support teacher at Fairview Elementary School. It was during those 15 years that Dr. Nies also served as the head boys basketball coach at Fairview High School. Dr. Nies began his administrative career in 2015. He spent two years as Fairview Elementary Assistant Principal before being hired as Supervisor of Special Education in May of 2017. Dr. Nies received his Supervisor of Special Education certificate from Edinboro University, a Master’s of Special Education from Mercyhurst University, and has a Bachelor of Science in special and elementary education from Mercyhurst University. He recently completed a doctorate of special education from Slippery Rock University. Dr. Nies is married to Jayme, a special education teacher within the Fort Leboeuf School District and together they have two beautiful daughters, Ivy and Ava.
