Volunteer

Volunteer involvement is essential to the success of Fairview School District.  We are grateful for the investment of your time and talents in our students!  

The well being and safety of our students is a top priority.  Per Pennsylvania State law, security clearances must be submitted before volunteering within a school district.  The type of clearances required depends on your role as a volunteer and will dictate whether you need School Board Approval.  

Limited Contact Volunteers:
Definition: 
A volunteer who is always within proximity of a district professional employee and there is no time in which the volunteer has the potential to be alone with a student or students.

Activities: Volunteers considered limited contact include, but are not limited to:

  • Classroom helpers

  • Party helpers

  • Party coordinators

  • Library/office helpers

  • Classroom field trip chaperones

  • Afterschool activity helpers

  • PTO/PTA

Substantial Contact Volunteers:
Definition:
A person who will be volunteering on a consistent basis with a specific activity and/or has the potential of being in contact with students for prolonged or unsupervised periods of time. All substantial contact volunteers require school board approval.

Activities: Volunteers considered substantial contact include, but are not limited to:

  • Gratis Coaches

  • Marching Band Helpers

  • STEM Mentors

  • Speech & Debate Judges

  • Robotics Mentors

  • Afterschool Activity Mentors/Coaches

  • Overnight field trip/competition chaperones/drivers.
