Substantial Contact Volunteer

SUBSTANTIAL CONTACT VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTIONS

FAIRVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT

A SUBSTANTIAL CONTACT VOLUNTEER is defined as a person who will be volunteering on a consistent basis with a specific activity and/or has the potential of being in contact with students for prolonged or unsupervised periods of time. Volunteers considered substantial contact include, but are not limited to, Marching Band Helpers, STEM Mentors, Speech & Debate Judges, Robotics Mentors, Gratis Coaches, and overnight field trip/competition chaperones/drivers.

Substantial Contact Volunteer clearances must be obtained within two (2) years of submission to the school district (*see exceptions below). Once clearances are on file with the school district, they are valid for five (5) years from the date on which they were obtained. All Substantial Contact Volunteers must be board approved before volunteering with the school district. Clearances obtained previously for other employment/volunteer purposes will be accepted as long as they meet requirements and are no more than one year old* from the date in which they are submitted to the school district.

Please be advised it can take up to 2-3 weeks to receive results for all clearances.
