The staff at Beaumont went above and beyond to make the students feel welcome; including touring the facility, sampling their products, and holding a luncheon with the some of the staff. Mrs. Fair's sophomore ELA classes created their Lord of the Flies symbolism masks this week. Students were encouraged to think outside the box and create symbols for the novel through colors, nature, and even movie references. This week, students will write the accompanying essay to explain the symbolism on their mask and how each aspect connects to the novel.

Sports analytics is one of the fastest-growing job segments in Big Data, having grown by 27% over the last decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Mrs. Kloecker started a new course at FHS this year called Data Science with Sports. Students began the class by completing a Coding Bootcamp to review important coding skills learned in previous computer science classes. Students have spent the past few weeks learning important skills in statistics, Python programming, coding with Pandas, and using programming to analyze large amounts of data. Most recently, students used their skills to analyze the player statistics of the 23-24 NCAAW Women's Basketball Champions, the South Carolina Gamecocks. We are excited to see our students learning real-world skills!
