Triangles were the answer to the STEM Lab that students in Mrs. Jones' Geometry classes completed this week. Their task was to build a structure using 15 gummy bears and 20 toothpicks to hold a textbook for 3 seconds. Only 1 group was able to figure out that triangles are the strongest structure for building!

Nelson’s American Studies 9 students play parlor games popular in the early 20th century. Here, blindfolded and holding a rolled-up newspaper “cudgel,” student volunteers try to score a point by tapping their competitor lightly on the head!

While some students might not like doing guided reading....however, leave it to Miss Glennon to make it fun for them! Students were practicing their guided reading using fun witchy fingers! Who wouldn't like doing mandatory school reading with a cool, green finger with a bright red fingernail? We love how our SEL teachers pull out all the creativity and use all the tools in their toolboxes to make learning fun for those who might not find it so fun!

Can you say "yo gané"? Señor Lowe's Spanish 1 class has been "muy ocupado" this week, learning about the articles and grammatical gender and number through La Lotería, a Bingo-style game popular throughout Mexico. They have also been practicing their pronunciation and fluency through the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish and the National Anthem of Argentina. There was also a surprise visit from Profe's Spanish 4 class, who came to demonstrate their self-written scenarios of a visit to the doctor. Remember, "si no sanas hoy, sanarás mañana!"
